Update Regarding City of Houston Boil Water Notice

Last night, Sunday, November 27, 2022, the City of Houston (the “City”) issued a boil water notification (the “Boil Water Notice”) for the City’s Main Water System after water pressure dropped below the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s required minimum 20 PSI during a power outage at the City’s East Water Purification Plant.

Northwest Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 28 (the “District”) does not receive water from the City of Houston.  The District receives its water from a joint water plant owned by the District and Meadowhill Regional Municipal Utility District and from a second joint water plant owned by the District and Northwest Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 36.  Water provided by the District to its customers is safe to drink and is not affected by the City’s Boil Water Notice.

Boil Water Notice Rescinded

On 02/17/2021, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Northwest Harris County M.U.D. No. 28 public water system, 1013258, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of 02/19/2021.
